The roof is finished! Tomorrow the house will receive a cleansing bleach bath. The first 3 pics are from today and I'll post a few more underneath once the house is clean and white again!

FRONT PORCH STORIES

One of the things I love about our home is the beautiful Southern front porch. Yesterday I painted the porch ceiling "Haint blue," which is a Southern tradition said to keep evil spirits away, and to make insects think the ceiling is the sky so they won't build nests there. It is gorgeous! I'm going to give the columns a good scrubbing and sanding and will paint them next. Here are some pics of yesterday's progress! More pics to come on this page, so stay tuned!

Our towns- Frisco City & Excel, Alabama!

While our official address says we live in Frisco City, we're actually on the line between Excel and Frisco City. I've only been there a handful of times so I don't really know much about it yet. Just 2 miles down a pretty country lane sits the town of Excel, Alabama. It's a one stoplight town that boasts potted plants and tidy flower arrangements, a Dollar General, a car wash, a beauty salon, a popular BBQ joint where everything is made from scratch, a Post Office, the Town Hall and Vol. fire Dept, a handful of churches, a Mercantile, and the Town Market (where it's said you can buy the best meat around!). The local High School is a source of local pride, and the Mayor keeps the town neatly kept up and litter free! It's noticeable that the people who live here take pride in their little town, and now we do as well! My pretty drive into town Best meat around! BBQ joint- a local fave! hairdresser and...
