And the floor tiles are in! We decided to install a floating laminate floor in a multi colored pattern which flows easily into the dining room and hallway which have original hard wood floors. There are beige and copper tones in the floor that will tie in the butcher block countertop sections and the copper sink (coming soon), and the slate values will unite the stainless steel elements in the appliances and cabinet hardware. We're creating a space that has modern touches with shout outs to the era in which the house was built (early 1960's) without going all out retro. The original metal cabinets will stay, and new countertops are on the way. This weekend we'll put the floor trim in. Stay tuned!
